Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be a registered nurse
  • Demonstrate availability for a weekly time commitment of 2-4 hours
  • Work within an oncology setting
  • Be in good standing with UPMC and current supervisor
  • Lead in a way that represents the spirit of the Wellness and Integrative Oncology Program – patient centric and holistic – which includes:
    • Remaining calm under pressure during patient and staff interactions
    • Focusing on patient needs; mind, body, and spirit
    • Proactively promoting the program to patients and staff through referrals and education
    • Taking initiative to grow new ideas and expand the program

After training is complete, you must behave in a way that represents the spirit of the Wellness and Integrative Oncology Program – accountable and professional – which includes:

  • Dedicating 2-4 hours each week to Nurse Ambassador patient care
  • Maintaining a positive and flexible attitude
  • Demonstrating punctuality and organization
  • Responding to emails and other communication in a timely fashion
  • Completing pre- and post-training survey: Nurse Work Empowerment Scale-CWEQ-II
  • Completing a three, six, and 12-month survey: Nurse Work Empowerment Scale-CWEQ-II
  • Following up with Kayla Miller, Nurse Ambassador Clinical Liaison, one to three times per year
  • Participating and executing data collection procedures in a timely manner
